Localhost being blocked by RateLimter

There will always be opinions, both good and bad on how MagicSpam protection, rules and policies are used, and what the defaults should be. Different environments may have different needs. We try to find the perfect balance, and that is not always easy. Just remember that we have to satisfy millions of users.. not just one person.

Localhost being blocked by RateLimter

Post by CTPhilip » Tue Jan 24, 2017 1:19 pm

Hi, in my logs I can see we are being blocked by RateLimit on ::1. However I cannot add this ::1 to the ratelimit whitelist.

I did add ratelimit whitelist on our servers ip but our forms are still getting ratelimited.

Also under ratelimit IP it does not show a full list of ips being ratelimited. There are several missing. Please assist. :(

Contacted MagicSpam via support form. Had to add to whitelist through Command Prompt.

Code: Select all

c:\magicspam\bin\magicspam-listmgr.exe -r -a ::1 c:/
Then I changed the ratelimiter to 1min to clear it out and we are back in business. ::1 now shows up in the ratelimiter whitelist. So far localhost has not been banned. Hope this info is helpful for anybody else that come across this issue.

This issue (::1 being blocked by rate limiter) has been fixed and addressed in the latest release of MagicSpam for MailEnable 2.0.3-2
