Note on running MagicSpam in a Virtuozzo Environment

We have heard reports recently of an issue while attempting to activate your MagicSpam for cPanel license on a Virtuozzo platform:

Remote server said: You must provide a permitted use code or plesk license key. [400]

The problem stems from the fact that Virtuozzo does not assign a unique hardware address to the virtual network interfaces:

venet0 Link encap:UNSPEC HWaddr 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00

You may work around this issue by running the following command (as root):

uuidgen > /etc/magicspam/.shadow

After you have performed this command, you should be able to successfully register your license key within the MagicSpam dashboard!
