Updating MagicSpam

Post by Starnox » Fri Mar 22, 2024 1:48 pm

Hi all,

for my VPS
OS : Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS
Plesk Obsidian Version 18.0.58 Update #2

I have MagicSpam pro installed and using version 2.1-20.6

I had this probem for a little bit now that when I click the "Upgrade Now" URL from the Alerts page to update to 2.2.0-1 it just sits forever with "Preparing to connect to remote update server" and nothing else happens.. any idea why it does this and can I run the update via SSH?

Thanks
Gary

Hello Gary,

Unfortunately the current version you have installed was released with
a bug in the interface driven upgrader.

In order to upgrade, you will need to manually download the new package
from:

https://www.magicspam.com/download

After entering your license key and selecting the corresponding OS from
the selection list, download the zip file to you local system.

From there you can use the Plesk Extension Manager to upload the new
package.

Please note as well that future upgrades may experience one more round
of Upgrade now appearing to be 'stuck', but they should complete the
upgrade despite the cosmetic glitch - we recently encountered a new
kernel level restriction that was causing access blocking for files in
the /tmp path that the upgrade feedback relies on. That will be
addressed in the next point release of MagicSpam.

Let us know if these steps resolve the issue for you, or if further
assistance is required.

Thanks!
