Messages from Cron rejected

Post by widomaker » Mon Aug 19, 2013 11:07 am

Hello,

We use MagicSpam on Plesk 11 with CentOS 6 and Postfix.

Recently, e-mail messages generated by Cron have been rejected by MagicSpam. See below...

- - - - -

Code: Select all

From: root@plesk.example.com (Cron Daemon)
To: root@plesk.example.com
Subject: Cron <root@plesk> /usr/local/psa/libexec/modules/watchdog/cp/send-report weekly
Date: Mon, 19 Aug 2013 01:00:02 -0400 (EDT)

Failed to send message: `mail() failed: Failed to add recipient: pleskadministrator@example.org [SMTP: Invalid response code received from server (code: 550, response: 5.7.0 Malformed or missing HELO.Rejected by MagicSpam 1.0.5-3 (http://www.magicspam.com/).Visit http://www.linuxmagic.com/best_practices/valid_helo_domain.html for more information)]'.

When I look through the logs for rejected messages sent to "plesk@example.org", there are no rejected messages logged to "plesk@example.org". Other messages to "plesk@example.org" are logged and indicate that they were not rejected because they are IP_EXEMPT (127.0.0.1 is whitelisted).

I don't understand why this is happening.

Any ideas, suggestions, or solutions are appreciated.

Regards,
Bob

Hello Bob,

Thank you for your message. In this case it appears as though your server has an invalid or missing hosts entry. CentOS normally insists on a fully qualified hostname in /etc/sysconfig/network.

Please post the contents of your /etc/sysconfig/network file and your /etc/hosts file. You may wish to email these to us for security reasons - support@magicspam.com

Thanks Bob!
