Issue with upgrading to latest version of magic spam

Post by Bradley » Sun Dec 05, 2021 5:31 am

When trying to upgrade my installation of Magic spam to version 2.1-12.2, a console window pops up trying to remove magicspam.dll and fails with permission denied.

I tried running as administrator but had no luck. Is there a workaround for this?

Hello Bradley,

Based on the error message, the MailEnable SMTP Connector Service may still have the MagicSpam DLL opened which prevents it from being removed during the upgrade process.

To begin troubleshooting, please temporarily disable the MailEnable SMTP Connector Service from the MailEnable Admin Console.

Code: Select all

Servers >> localhost >> Services and Connectors >> SMTP (Right-click) >> Stop
Next uninstall MagicSpam from the system by running the uninstaller binary at:

Code: Select all

C:\magicspam\uninstall.exe
After MagicSpam has been uninstalled, ensure that the MagicSpam DLL has been removed from the MailEnable binary directories. If they still exist, please manually remove them.

Code: Select all

C:\Program Files (x86)\Mail Enable\Bin64\magicspam.dll
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mail Enable\bin\magicspam.dll
Then install the latest version of MagicSpam PLUS for MailEnable 2.1-12.2 onto the system and make sure that the MailEnable SMTP Connector Service has started again. At this point, MagicSpam should be operating correctly and protecting your MailEnable system.

Otherwise would you also provide us with the following information:
  1. What MagicSpam version were you upgrading from?
  2. What is the MailEnable version?
Thank you.
