SpamAuditor.org repeated false positives, please advise..

Post by cpanel-antispam » Thu Oct 18, 2018 7:17 am

One of my users sent me this bounce-back:

Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550-5.5.1 Server IP 184.154.133.90 listed as abusive.

See 550-http://spamauditor.org/best-practices/ip-reputation/ for more information.

550 Protection provided by MagicSpam 2.1-6 http://www.magicspam.com

IP : 184.154.133.90
Host : delivery.mailspamprotection.com
Country : United States

I used a handful of 'blacklist checkers' and none of them had a problem with this IP
and i've been experiencing more results like this, and I believe they are tending
to be as a result of SpamAuditor.

Anyone else experiencing these repeated false positives from them?

I can remove them from the checking process on my server, correct?

Thanks!

Hello cpanel-antispam,

Thank you for your post.

Checking "BMS Lookup Tool" from the link: http://www.linuxmagic.com/products/bms/lookup

in the:

http://spamauditor.org/best-practices/ip-reputation/

page, we see that IP: 184.154.133.90 is listed on couple of MIPSPACE reputation lists.

Please instruct the sender to contact www.mipspace.com for delisting and further support. Alternatively, you have the ability to whitelist the sender directly from your MagicSpam, in the "Settings / Exemptions" section.

We hope this information helps.

Ok, thanks for that info...

Here's the problem... I have clients on my server, who are getting important, legitimate emails from group of senders,
which seem to be coming from this and other IP Addresses, that are getting blocked for the same reason, MIPSPACE
which I have never personally/directly heard of until this whole issue with these same clients.

I have their sending email addresses whitelisted.... they are still blocked

I keep putting in the sending server IP address, and of course, those are coming through, until they send
from another IP address.

I would like to ignore MIPSPACE as it seems they are just another anti-spam company, that is too aggressive, How
can I deal with this, before Iose a client for NOT being able to get their email to them?

thanks!

Hello panel-antispam,

Thank you for your post.

In order to better assist you with this issue, could you please send us MagicSpam logs for the blocked messages, as well as screenshots of the following tabs in your MagicSpam admin-interface panel:

* Settings / Server Policies
* Settings / IP Reputation

To retrieve MagicSpam logs, you can use the MagicSpam interface and access the "Logs" tab. In the log search result output, you have the option to export/save the log search results to a CSV file. Please leave only "SPAM" entries related to reported false positives and mail the CSV file as an attachment to us.

If you are using MagicSpam PRO version, in addition to above mentioned information, please send us the screenshot of:

* Settings / User Settings

in the MagicSpam admin-interface panel, as well as the screenshot of:

* Settings / IP Reputation

tab in your customer's own MagicSpam user interface panel.

Please send all this information to our support email address:

support@magicspam.com

and we might be able to provide you more information about this issue.

Thank you panel-antispam.

Seems mipspace are one of those that add ip ranges in sweeps and hope to make money from people paying to get off their lists, it's a scam and very scummy.
Unfortunately I think magicspam are in on the deal so the false positives will continue until the right legal case is made to stop them. The only options we have is to actively promote people to dump magicscam and move to more legitimate options.

Hello govu,

Thank you for your post.

Please note that MIPSpace does not charge for delisting from their lists. If you have any evidence that supports such claim, please let us know.

MIPSpace lists, just like any other IP reputation list in MagicSpam is enabled by the administrator, and if it does not work or if it gives false positives, it can simply be disabled or enabled in the advanced mode to only flag messages instead of rejecting them. That said, we are not seeing the evidence of our customers disabling MIPSpace lists, as they seem to provide adequate protection from spam.

Alternatively, if there are any false positives, we suggest that the sender reach out to http://mipspace.com/ for delisting from MIPSpace list, while in the meantime, the recipient can easily whitelist the sender directly in MagicSpam.

We hope this information helps.

Hello asanz,

Thank you for contacting us.

If you follow the URL in the rejection notice, you should find detailed information as to why your message was blocked.

It appears that your IP address (187.217.241.231) is listed on the RATS-Dyna reputation lists. Please contact http://www.spamrats.com/ for delisting and further support.

We are the developers of the software and not the operators of the email server. If you feel your messages are being blocked without just cause, contact the recipient and ask them to 'whitelist' you, or contact your email administrator to address the issues that caused your messages to be rejected.

We hope this information helps.
