forwarded mail

We have some users that want to forward their incoming email to Gmail. Does MagicSpam check mail that is being forwarded to another mailbox and block SPAM without forwarding the SPAM message?

Hello Edgecity,

MagicSpam will continue to apply its anti-spam rules to the messages that are destined for this domain, but it should not interfere with the actual act of forwarding the email.
If you don't want MagicSpam do do anything with the messages that are destined for this domain, you can always add the domain to the exemption list.

Please let us know if you have any questions at all or if we perhaps misunderstood your inquiry. Thanks!

Thanks, I'm still not clear about this. Are you saying that even mail that MagicSpam flags as SPAM will forward to the Gmail box?

Hello Edgecity,

This is correct. When configured to flag only, MagicSpam still relies on your server's MTA to handle delivery. If you have a forward in place, the MTA is going to forward the message.
If you do not want these messages forwarded, you will have to enable the rule fully so that MagicSpam can reject the message.

Thanks!

OK, thanks. Is there a way to set up a rule so I can reject SPAM before it is forwarded for certain email addresses?

Hello Edgecity,

When "flag-only' mode is enabled, MagicSpam only flags the spam message with the additional text/information added to the email (e.g. adding "* Spam *" in the Subject line) and passes the email to the next process as configured in your mail server. It is up to your mail server to decide whether to deliver/forward the message (default action) or discard the message. You will have look into your mail server's configuration for this task as it is outside the scope of MagicSpam.
