rDNS issues

Hi there
we have 1 main box in particular who is complaining that people cannot send mail to them.

The bounce message their clients get are:

550
5.7.0 Your server IP address [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] does not have a valid reverse
DNS entry [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.validdomain.co.uk].

However, clearly it does have an rDNS entry.. as it just went and listed it in the error message?

Any ideas what is going wrong here. There are hundreds of mail boxes on this server and only this 1 domain seems affected.

Hello magicker,

Thank you for your post.

We understand that one of your clients is unable to send emails to your server due to not having a valid reverse DNS entry.

If you follow the URL in the rejection notice, you should find detailed
information as to why their message was blocked.

From your post it seems that the remote server has dynamic/generic type of reverse DNS record and those do not conform to the best practices for email servers.

May we recommend contacting the administrators of the remote server to update the PTR record of their server's
IP address to something that reflects their domain name and the purpose of the server:

e.g. mail.validdomain.co.uk
