The MagicSpam logs located on our server /var/log/magicspam/ contain 6 log files that appear to rotate every 6 days. Since the file size average is about 300kb per file, is there a way to configure MagicSpam to keep a log of 30 Days or have the administrator choose how many days per months to log?

By the way MagicSpam recommended an excellent program to read the log files. Just google textpad.exe, it allows you to view Unix Style files in Windows very easy, it is free, and has great searching/editting features..

A very good suggestion and one we will look into from the development side.

Presently the log rotation scheme is based on a 'day of the week' factor. Initially we had considered utilizing the standard syslog facility with logrotate.d, however there were concerns with varying operating systems utilizing different methods for logging than what we normally see on the more mainstream distributions. We will definitely discuss variant methods though to permit more flexibility with log backlog.

As to your comment regarding the textpad editor - we're glad that is working for you. Additionally, we have plans for a future release to support log search and report methods to hopefully make that aspect even easier.

Hello Raymond,

Just so you know, we have now added a 'log search' feature to our latest release of MagicSpam (1.0.4-4.2) available for download. Your request for a customizable log rotate factor is high on our radar as well and is planned for the next release of MagicSpam.
